funny

Is it just me, or is there hilarious shit happening everywhere? The blog used to be about work. Now it's about life.

Thongs, Vodka and a Few of My Favourite Things

I've been lucky enough to work with some amazing teams and awesome people, and I've received a bunch of nifty gifts over the years that really make me smile.  In no particular order, some of the ones that bring back most excellent memories of fun and funny times are:

  • A coffee mug from Amy that says Suck it Up Princess, which really encapsulates my management philosophy.  It may even be the title of my autobiography.
  • A carved elephant from James that he bought for me in South Africa
  • A framed definition of the word Mississippi, also from James who will always be my Mississippi (there's a story there for sure)
  • A chinese character stamp from Jason, direct from China
  • A scrapbook from my entire team at Ceridian when I left
  • A groovy Tissot watch from my friends at Ceridian when I left
  • A mixed CD from Mel and Kara that I still listen to regularly, which features the theme from Dallas as the first track
  • A framed print of Downtown Saskatoon from the team in Saskatoon
  • A framed print of a prairie grain elevator from Judy
  • A framed Emmerson quote from the Account Executive team at Ceridian when I left
  • A bottle of Obama cola from Lisa
  • A t-shirt with a bunch of 'Slaterisms' on it from Amy
  • A thong and a bottle of wine (yep, there's a story there) from Ingrid
  • A thong and a scrapbook from the Small Business managers at Ceridian (yep, another story there)
  • A crepe maker from the team in Saskatoon that I received many years ago, and still use today, and I think about them every time I use it
  • A riding crop.  There's definitely a story there.  Stay tuned.
  • A ball of wool and 2 knitting needles from Darlene to remind me to 'stick to my own knitting', her classy way of saying 'butt out of my business'
  • Vodka.  Lots and Lots of vodka.  And Wine.  And other liquor.
There are more, and I've appreciated every single one of them, and I especially appreciate the thought that went into them.
